How to get different fonts on Discord
- Type or paste your text into the box above.
- Browse the generated Discord fonts and pick the one you like.
- Click Copy next to that style.
- Paste it into Discord โ a message, your server nickname, a channel name, or your About Me.
These aren't installed fonts โ they're special Unicode characters Discord already supports, which is why you can copy and paste them anywhere in the app on desktop, iOS and Android.
What font does Discord use?
Discord's interface uses a custom typeface called gg sans (earlier versions used Whitney, and Noto Sans for some scripts). You can't change Discord's built-in font, but the generator above lets you style your own text so it stands out in chat, names and bios.
Where to use your Discord fonts
- Server nickname: stand out in the member list.
- Messages: add emphasis to announcements and titles.
- Channel & category names: give your server a themed look.
- About Me / bio: personalize your profile.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use these fonts in my Discord username?
They work reliably in server nicknames, channel names, your About Me and in messages. The newer unique @username has stricter rules, so some styles may be rejected there โ but nicknames accept them.
Are these Discord fonts safe?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is installed, and your text is never uploaded.
What is the difference between Discord fonts and markdown?
Markdown (**bold**, *italic*, ~~strikethrough~~) only formats text inside a message and won't work in your name or bio. The Unicode fonts here work everywhere, including names and bios.
